Not for our project, however. As we are required to have two different games to pitch for stage 1, we decided to focus on an entirely new concept that we have dubbed LCAD (standing for Lights, Camera, Action, Death). It is a horror adventure game taking the player into the role of a security guard during a night at the museum. I feel as though this theme is a bit derivative, but we can make it work with the types of third party hardware we have at our disposal.
The Tech
Our programmer, Lief, currently has access to a lot of different pieces of tech that we can tinker with.
The first is the Oculus Rift, the wildly popular and promising virtual reality headset product. Putting on the headset is a surreal experience that really puts you into the game.
Utilizing this, we want to immerse the player in our spooky museum environment and, in tandem with the next piece of hardware, create an atmosphere of fear and dread.
Up next is the Razyr Hydra, the motion detecting controllers that have the potential to mirror the player's hand position in real life within the game space.
As of right now, we are considering the player to have access to a flashlight and a camera feed system that they can flip through. By mandating the use of these cameras through an in-game handheld object for navigation, the player would be pulled out of the world, absorbed into technology.

This, of course, is horror, however! Such a reprieve would be met with a cruel reminder that they are, because of the Oculus, right in the heart of something terrifying.
As for the cubes...
As we require a second game to pitch, we put the other game on the back-burner for this week.
That being said, we have worked out the names Four and Code Mushroom as working titles.
I am a little worried in that we are trying to maintain this coolness factor we have aesthetically to a point where we may end up spinning our wheels on this. Hopefully this hiatus will allow us to come back refreshed.
Either way, though, I think this new idea has potential.
